EMR Support · NextGen

IT support for practices that run NextGen.

NextGen runs some of the largest specialty and multi-location practices in Texas, often on-premise or in a hosted data center with heavy interface and reporting loads. Galleon supports NextGen practices across DFW and Houston with server and hosting management, performance tuning, interface monitoring, backup, and security built for an enterprise EMR.

Galleon is an independent managed IT provider. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by NextGen; we support practices that run it.

Practice Environment Brief
NextGen
Deployment models we support
NextGen Enterprise on-premise · NextGen-hosted or third-party hosted · NextGen Office (cloud) · Citrix or virtual desktop delivery.
Common practice types
Multi-specialty groups, orthopedics, cardiology, GI, OB/GYN, behavioral health, FQHC-style clinics, and multi-location practices in DFW and Houston.
Critical dependencies
SQL server performance and maintenance · Application and Citrix servers · Interface engine (Mirth/Rosetta) and lab, imaging, and clearinghouse connections · Workstation and thin-client standards · Reporting loads at month-end.
Defining risk
On-premise servers aging past support; database maintenance nobody owns; interfaces failing silently; upgrades that break local integrations.
Compliance
HIPAA technical safeguards, EPCS and Texas PDMP, BAAs with NextGen and hosting providers, audit logging, tested contingency plan.

The Reality

An enterprise EMR needs enterprise operations, whether it lives in your closet or a data center.

NextGen Enterprise environments carry real infrastructure: SQL databases that need index maintenance and backups, application and Citrix servers that need patching in a supported order, interface engines that need monitoring, and upgrade windows that need planning. Practices that inherited the environment from a previous vendor often discover none of that has been done.

The result is slow charts at 8 a.m., month-end reports that time out, interfaces that stop delivering results without anyone noticing, and an upgrade that breaks something nobody documented.

Galleon runs NextGen environments with the discipline they need: documented architecture, database maintenance, patch and upgrade planning coordinated with NextGen, interface monitoring, tested backups, and a helpdesk that knows the client, Citrix, printing, and scanning workflows.

How We Support You

Six places we focus for every NextGen practice.

Server and database operations.

SQL maintenance, application and Citrix server patching, capacity planning, and lifecycle management for on-premise or hosted environments.

Performance tuning.

Database, server, network, and workstation tuning so charts and reports stay fast, especially at month-end and after upgrades.

Interface monitoring.

Mirth/Rosetta and other interface engines watched, with alerts and vendor coordination so lab, imaging, and clearinghouse feeds do not fail silently.

Upgrade and migration planning.

Upgrades tested and sequenced with NextGen; hosting migrations and cloud moves scoped, priced, and managed end to end.

Backup and recovery.

Tested database and server backups with isolated copies and recovery objectives set in advance, plus a documented downtime procedure.

HIPAA security around the EMR.

MFA, EDR, segmentation, audit-log review, EPCS two-factor and PDMP integration, and BAAs with every party.

Compliance

On-premise and hosted NextGen environments carry the full HIPAA infrastructure burden.

When the database is in your building or your named data center, HIPAA's technical safeguards apply to all of it: access control, audit logs, encryption at rest and in transit, and a tested contingency plan. Cyber insurers add MFA, EDR, and proven backups. Aging, unsupported servers are the finding most likely to appear in both an audit and a claim denial.

Galleon documents the environment, keeps it supported and patched, tests the backups, and covers it in the annual security risk assessment, with BAAs tracked for NextGen, hosting, and interface vendors.

Common Questions

The questions practice managers actually ask us.

Yes. Enterprise (on-premise or hosted) and Office (cloud) have different local footprints, and we support both.

Replace on-premise, move to NextGen or third-party hosting, or virtualize and modernize in place. We assess and give a written recommendation with three-year costs, then manage the project.

Yes. Interface engines are monitored with alerts, and we coordinate with labs, imaging centers, clearinghouses, and NextGen when a feed fails.

Yes. Identity proofing, two-factor tokens, and Texas PDMP integration configured and documented for every prescriber.

Yes. Engineers in Richardson and Houston, one helpdesk, on-site support in both markets.
